Your dentist may prescribe a medicine
Drugs
Your dentist may prescribe a medicine anti-infectives to be taken by internally or applied in the periodontal pocket. For example, Atridox, a slow-release gel-based doxycycline, which must be applied for seven consecutive days. The gel solidifies when applied within the periodontal pocket.
Changes in lifestyle
- Renounce your penchant for sugar. There is nothing like to encourage the growth of bacteria. If you must eat, then brush your teeth and rinse your mouth with water or mouthwash
- Eat lots of fruits and vegetables. These foods contain antioxidants that help to regenerate tissue. Bonus: raw, they contribute to clean teeth.
- Stop smoking. The results of a survey of 12,000 adults showed that smoking quadrupled the risk of suffering from periodontal disease. In addition, smokers heal more slowly than others, following surgery.
- Brush your teeth. Do it at least twice a day using a soft bristle brush and spend it about two minutes, rather than the 45 to 60 seconds is the average. Also brush your tongue, because the bacteria are plentiful.
- Remember to move the floss every day. Insert it between your teeth by giving it the shape of a C and moving upward. And do not forget the bottom teeth!
