Some Conditions Can Cause Hot Flashes That Are Not Menopausal?
Rare conditions such as carcinoid syndrome, systemic mast cell disease, carcinoma of the thyroid, pheochromocytoma, renal carcinoma, pancreatic islet-cell tumors, neurological and emotional flushing and spinal cord injury can also produce flushing. These are thought to secrete chemicals into the blood stream that can stimulate the blood vessels of the brain.
Make sure to inform your doctor if ever you have one of these conditions other than hot flashes, especially a rapid heat rate or problems in blood pressure.
