Reasons Why There Is A Need For Periodontal Surgery

The early stage of gum disease is known as gingivitis, and most often people who have gingivitis notice that their gums bleed when they brush their teeth, and that they feel sore and tender, more so than normal. The gums may appear red or dark in color, instead of the bright, healthy pink that you are used to seeing. Reasons for the need of periodontal surgery may also include being able to adjust the gum level and at the same time expose more of the tooth so the dentist can be able to repair the damage and to improve appearance. Periodontal surgery, in certain instances can improve aesthetics. Gum grafting techniques can correct a healthy smile which is caused by gum recession. Further gum recession can also be prevented by gum grafting. These are good examples of how a periodontal surgery can enhance an individual's appearance damaged by chronic gum disease.
