Causes of Canker sore
The precise causes of steatites remain unknown, but there are some triggers: - Injuries or oral mussel irritation caused by a poor fit of dentures, oral surgery, too energetic use of the toothbrush or repeated contact with rough fillings can cause the appearance of canker sores or aggravate existing canker sores;
- Fatigue and physical stress;
- Allergies or sensitivities alimentaires1, 2. The foods most often accused are: alcohol, chewing gum, citrus, pineapple, nuts (especially walnuts), dairy products, gluten, meat, spicy foods, tomatoes, the vinegar and other acidic foods;
- Deficiencies food. Researchers have found significant deficiencies in iron, folic acid, vitamin B12 and vitamin B1, B2 and B6 in patients with steatites; 3,4,5
- Using toothpaste based on sodium codicil sulfate (called sodium laurel sulfate, in English). This is the detergent used in most toothpaste. It could make the inside of the mouth more vulnerable by removing the protective layer based mucking that tapisse.8 Three clinical studies (one preliminary 14 a single-blind 15 and a double-blind 6) have concluded that toothpaste containing this substance causes more recurrent mouth ulcers in people predisposed a toothpaste that was unprepared. However, a clinical double-blind controlled most recent and also bearing on people suffering from recurrent mouth ulcers found no difference between the two types of toothpaste;
- Hormonal changes related to menstrual cycle.
